

Lara Allen’s work has roots in experimental music when at 18 she formed the band Manwich in Cincinnati. Later she moved to San Francisco where she played and recorded with numerous bands including Heavenly Ten Stems, Secret Chiefs 3, and Caroliner. During that time she developed a visual art practice that resulted in an MFA in painting from Yale–where her work took on dimensions of text, performance and music. Recent shows include: Museo de Bellas Artes de Cuba; Queens Museum; CAC, Cincinnati; MOCA Cleveland; SFMOMA; Eastern State Penitentiary; Cafe Korb’s Artist Lounge, Vienna; Artists Space, New York City; UrBANGUILD, Kyoto; Bar Isshee, Tokyo.
